August 5-9, 9:30 am-11:30 am Ages 8-14 Tuition: $150 (materials included) A Stitch Through Time Stephanie Rosenblum In this course, students will stitch their way through the history and making of quilts both functional and decorative. We will learn both traditional and non-traditional quilt making and discover that the Elements of Art and Principles of Design have an important role in the matching and patching of pieces of fabric. Students will learn both hand and machine sewing. August 5-9, 1:00 pm-3:00 pm Ages 10-15 Tuition: $150 (materials included) Fall and Spring Courses Private Lessons

Introduction to 2D Art
For ages 8-14.
This class introduces students to several kinds of two-dimensional media. Students learn about well-known artists and their work. Media includes pencil, charcoal, acrylic, water-color and linoleum.

This class introduces students to several kinds of three-dimensional media. Students learn about well-known artists and their work. Media includes clay, balsa foam and found objects.

Exploring Color
For ages 5-9.
This course will explore the basics to color theory, mixing, and techniques. Famous artists through the ages will be highlighted in this course while creating colorful and brilliant projects with a variety of mediums enhancing the visual effects.
Mixed Media and Collage For ages 8-14 Within this course, the student will create a series of projects with a palette of unlimited colors, enticing textures and complex layers. The student will explore the art history, present movement, and varied techniques of mixed media, collage and assemblage.
Art History For ages 14 and up.
Introductory Concentrations
Prerequisites: Intro to 2D Art, Intro to 3D Art.
For ages 10-14.
Introductory classes are offered for drawing, painting, print-making and sculpture. Designed for the younger learner, these classes expand the students’ experience in each of these concentrations.

Drawing I
No prerequisites. For ages 14 and up.
With emphasis on observational drawing, this course develops the student's greater technical understanding of drawing as an expressive medium. Various drawing materials, methods and subjects are explored as a means to cultivate perceptual ability and descriptive drawing skills. A range of classical concepts is covered, including tonal and linear drawing, composition and perspective.
90-minute class x 14 weeks
Painting I
Presents the fundamental principles and techniques of painting. Students learn to prepare supports, use painting tools, mix color and analyze surface qualities. Integration of drawing and design concepts are emphasized as students investigate color-value connections, articulation of form, composition and spatial relationships. Working primarily from observation, students explore various subjects. An in-depth analysis of historical paintings is incorporated into the class.
Print-Making I
For students interested in learning how to develop personal imagery through the media of relief and intaglio printmaking. The first half of the semester focuses on relief printing, images that emphasize high contrast, simplified shapes, and bold rendering of content. In the second half of the semester, students will investigate intaglio and monotype techniques.
Sculpture I
Introduces the 3D format and exposes students to an overview of processes, tools, and materials used in sculpture. Students explore the relationship of ideas to materials and construction techniques. Some of the materials used include clay, wood, and various found-objects.
Digital Photography I
No prerequisites. For ages 10 and up.
This class will introduce students to the art of photography. Students will see the world in a new way while learning the fundamentals of digital photography. This class offers a well-rounded introduction to design concepts, a little history, and fun exercises in photography. School-age and adult students are welcome.

Portfolio Review
Prerequisite: examples of personal artwork ready for submission to colleges or galleries. For ages 16 and up.
Students develop their artistic portfolios for college entrance or other artistic pursuits. Elements of presentation, organization, and balance are addressed. Class content includes professional critique, documentation of their work and an introduction to the business of the art industry.
Level II Concentration
Prerequisite: Drawing I, Painting I, Print-Making I, Sculpture I.
For ages 14 and up.
Students will choose an emphasis and medium of concentration:
· Drawing emphasis: charcoal, ink or pencil media.
· Painting: water-color, acrylic or oil
· Sculpture: clay, wood or metal
· Print-Making: relief printing or intaglio
Students will receive advanced instruction in their chosen concentration, but in a group setting of mixed emphases.
(3-8 students).
Level III Concentration
Prerequisite: Level II Concentration.
Continuing in their Level II area of emphasis, students prepare for a final exhibition and receive introductory instruction on portfolio development.
