More for the Parents...

I have the privelege of leading a network of 15 youth pastors who each contribute in creative ways to make these weekends available that are high calibre and reasonable cost.  I recently had a great meeting with our speaker, David Ward, and I'd like to share with you the direction that God is taking us this year.

We all know that these weekends can serve as momentous turning points for our students, but all too often the effects are short-lived.  David has a real burden to teach students not just about what actions need to change (the fruit) but the core issues that need to be re-framed (the root) that will help toward sustainable transformation.

The theme for the retreat is "All in.  All out."  We're calling our students toward deep commitment to community, a commitment to being 100% present and working to fulfill all that it asks of us ("All in").  At the same time, it's that same commitment that drives us into the world as a community that is being sent ("All out").  This must begin with a commitment to Christ, the King, in order for us to understand our role as citizens of the Kingdom -- doing his will and standing against sin, and joyfully working to represent the Kingdom on earth.

I really am excited about what Jesus may accomplish in our students this year.  Please be praying for David as he prepares and for the Jr High and Sr High volunteers and parents who will be accompanying the students on this journey.
